While we may “do hair,” that’s not who we are. At the heart of Create Space Hair Co., are our values and our people. Our mission statement is more than something we stick on our website and forget about. When we opened our doors in 2021, it was just our bookkeeper, our founder, Jaime Powell, and her vision for a space where every individual could comfortably define their own experience. Now, just a couple short years, the Create Space Hair Co. is rated the number one hair salon in Chilliwack (THANK YOU by the way!) and has 17+ talented stylists and team members creating space for hundreds of guests.

Sustainability.
Create Space Hair Co. is a certified Sustainable Salon, partnering with the Green Circle initiative, which is an award-winning program created by industry leaders to help empower salons to recover up to 95% of the beauty waste. Part of maintaining this certification is choosing the products we carry very carefully. We trust Davines’ eco-friendly products as they are as healthy for the planet as they are for our hair.
On top of recycling 98% of what would typically be classified “waste” in the beauty industry, the products we carry at Create Space Hair Co, commit to ingredients and packaging that is sustainably sourced and produced, protect and preserve our biodiversity and leave our planet better than they left it.
When it comes to your hair appointment, you’ll notice there are a lot of hard-to-recycle and previously unrecoverable materials such as: Hair, foils, excess hair color, aerosol cans, and color tubes. With the Green Circle initiative, we work each and every appointment to make sure every item gets where it needs to go.
HAIR – Composted with other organic waste / Turned into bio-composite plastic to make new products like recycling bins / Used to research and develop new environmental technology like insulation and storm water filtration / Made into products to be used for humanitarian efforts such as cleaning up oil spills in our oceans.
EXCESS HAIR COLOUR – Turned into clean energy / Be separated into water and oil to be cleaned and returned to our water system or blended into fuel.
METALS – Melted down into aluminum sheets or bars to be used to make new products like car parts or bicycles.
SINGLE USE PRODUCTS – Used in a waste-to-energy process to create renewable energy and the leftover ash is used as asphalt.
PAPER AND CARDBOARD – Sorted by grade, broken down into paper pulp and used to make paper products or cellulose insulation.
PLASTIC – Sorted by type, cleaned, ground into small pieces and used to make new products like shampoo bottles!
PPE WASTE – Turned into clean renewable energy to power homes and businesses / Ash used to make filler in asphalt and other construction materials like brick.

We understand that not every stylist will be for every person, that’s why we are home to such diverse talent. Our goal at Create Space Hair Co. is to eliminate the idea of ‘fit’ and focus on helping individuals thrive. We create the space for hair stylists to perfect their craft, and for each guest in the salon chair to inspire us. All of our stylists are aligned and encourage you to book in with another one of our stylists if they are a better fit for YOUR needs.
Over the last two years, our guests have taken notice of this “unconventional” approach to guest experience. We hear time and time again that it seems like our team gets along so well–and we do! By making room for our differences, we are able to celebrate each other and eliminate any sense of competition. Availability.
Being available can mean different things to different people, but at Create Space Hair Co. availability is at our core. From a more surface level definition, we focus on being available for bookings, reservations and all of your questions. Create Space Hair Co. is open six days a week with hours to suit your schedule. You can book with us 24/7 on our reservations page and consultations are always complimentary for any questions you may have.
Our industry is notorious for its long waits, and while our stylists do book up, we are always looking for ways to be more available to you. In August 2022, we expanded our space to offer more chairs for more talent. Plus, we always do our best to accommodate those with timely reservation requests (AKA hair emergencies). Our stylists are even available to travel to YOU with our mobile wedding hair services for those looking for wedding hair stylists in Chilliwack and the surrounding area.
But above just being physically available, what’s more is our team takes the time to HEAR you. It’s important to us to have available time and space to fully understand all the diverse hair needs of our guests. Whether you’re looking for a simple cut, complicated colour correction, or to refresh your extensions, there is a stylist on our team who is best suited for you.
We understand that your hair is very much a part of your identity and never take your trust for granted. When you sit in our chairs you’ll notice that we ask lots of questions, and we mean LOTS. This is because we want to make sure we get it right, even when you say “You’re the professional, do what you think.” Although we know how to bring out and enhance your favourite features with your hair cut and colour, it also has to align with your personal preference. That being said, with questions we also provide answers. Such as what is realistic for your hair type, what you can expect, why a style will or not work well for you and your hair. We promise to give the why behind every answer, but more on that later.

We are very protective of the vibe in our salon and expect all of our stylists and guests to do their part in keeping it one that is inclusive. And while we offer comforts such as complimentary beverages, snacks, and a cozy work space for processing time, what we truly aim to offer is the comfort of knowing you are SO WELCOME in Create Space Hair Co; come as you are.
As a team, we elevate and recognize the diversity of our strengths, and address our weaknesses by investigating systems and processes in place to uncover blind spots in our industry, and finding ways to reimagine them.
Beyond that, we’ve also adopted an inclusive pricing scale to continue to honour individuality and recognize that not every service is the same. This allows our artists to customize a completely unique service to you. So no, unfortunately we won’t be able to email you back how much a cut and colour costs. Our pricing system works a little differently. Each stylist charges an hourly rate based off of their current level and a product charge. We weigh the product to the gram and log this into your personal profile. This ensures that you are paying ONLY for the product that you specifically use.
Before each service, your stylist will give you a breakdown of their estimated hourly artistry rate and estimated product total based on your inspiration and current hair. Don’t forget, consultations are complimentary. So if you’ve been eyeing down that one photo and wish your hair was like that, come ask one of our professionals.
